Security is a big issue here in SA as you may have heard. It is the exception for homes and businesses not to have some sort of security feature installed. Whether its window bars or electrified fences, people put big money into their safety.
Interestingly, spending and personnel for private security measures, be it guards, fences or alarms, significantly outpace that of the provinvial and national governments. Why is it in a country well known for their high criminal statistics that private sector is more relied upon than the public?
